Specimens from Tsumeb - Gallery III

In the first of our galleries dedicated to famous mineral localities, we've chosen Tsumeb, Namibia as our focus.

The mine complex collectively known as the Tsumeb Mine has produced more distinct mineral species than any other locality on earth, including a wealth of rare species found only in this deposit. Though no longer a producing mine, specimens from Tsumeb still form the foundation of many distinguished collections, old and new alike. Beauty, rarity, history...Tsumeb has it all.

Cerussite with malachite inclusions Tsumeb Namibia

Cerussite with Malachite inclusions - SOLD
Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
4.3 x 3.5 x 2.6 cm

MMB-605 - In this rare and coveted miniature from Tsumeb, reticulated crystals of cerussite are richly included with malachite. Due to the nature of the material, there is some damage on the piece, as is expected. The cerussite is highly transparent, allowing the malachite inclusions to be seen clearly.

Calcite Tsumeb Namibia

Calcite on Matrix - SOLD
Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
6.8 x 6.5 x 5.1 cm

MMS-260 - A flashy cluster of very transparent and glassy calcite rhombohedrons from Tsumeb would make a fine addition to any display case. Perched atop the two largest rhombs is a smaller calcite cluster which adds that little extra pizazz in my opinion. These calcites are classics, and finding a pristine example is becoming more and more difficult. Equally attractive from 360°

Cerussite twinned Tsumeb Namibia Minette Collection

Cerussite - SOLD
Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
4.3 x 4.0 x 2.7 cm

MMY-1207 - Twinned cerussite crystals looking like a leaded glass butterfly rest next to a larger hoppered cerussite crystal on matrix. Very lustrous and in great condition for the species, this is clearly a competition level miniature. Outstanding!
